On the side of the Sun it extends to some 100,000 km and in the other direction, the nightside due to the influence of the solar wind, it exfends millions of kilometres. The magnenc poles are situated about 1.2 thousand kilometres from the geographical poles. The solar wind can penetrate to the Earth only neor the magnetic poles. The most famous phenomena - of this are called northern lights.
